The Maine Secretary of State issues apostilles in Augusta. Notarized documents go direct once properly notarized, vital records need certified copies from Maine CDC Vital Records or the town clerk where the event was recorded, and Maine’s town-based records system means older documents sometimes need tracing, which we’ve done more than once.
State fee: $10 per document. Full-service timing: one to three weeks depending on the state (call us and we’ll tell you where yours currently stands). Pricing: rates page.
Canadian cross-border family and property matters lead the caseload. Canada joined the Hague Convention in January 2024, which changed the answer for Canadian destinations from legalization to apostille; if someone told you otherwise before 2024, it’s worth re-checking. /order/ or (212) 245-9690.
